Issue:

As Main Topic: The most direct and popular one will be Comics, inside it, one could identify: Argentinean Comics, and of course in particular Mafalda Comic, the comic strip written and drawn by Argentine cartoonist Joaquín Salvador Lavado, better known by his pen name Quino.

Then, going in the opposite direction, to wider Topics, one could identify: Art, Painting, also Literature, Philosophy and of course Humor, even could be spotted Politics and Human Rights, by the peculiar concerns of the little girl Mafalda, the Main character of this Comic Strip.

Then, surrounding the main topic, could be found the followings: Besides the 50th Anniversary, I think the Personality of the Cartoonist known as Quino, is clearly honoured because of the deep relation that worldwide is done between the Artist Quino and his Creation Mafalda.

It is a bit difficult to spot the surrounding Topics of this release, as if one dive deep could see path of links in many directions, however, trying to select the most revelant ones, I think Childhood will be included for sure, also Education, Family, Friendship too, and in a deeper way Innocence, in the positive form of it, Observation, Deep Meditation, Questioning of the Status-Quo, and the Fights for Human Rights, Peace, Freedom, Equality, the list could be endless, Life, Love, Care, to summarize one could group all of them in the Desire of building a better World.

Now, regarding the desing of the stamps: It is a nicely composed Se-Tenant showing a Comic Strip of only two Drawings, in which Quino strongly and precisely shows Mafalda, and also obviously his, worries of the Bad Health in which our World is, and the subsecuent Pride and Joy after seeing her Earth Globe as an Unique crowd fighting for his Rights.

So the Topics again could be many, that ranges from the most direct as Maps because of the Earth Globe, to more implicit ones as: Ecology, Health, Union, Equality, Fight, and also Emotions, the last one gracefully inferred in Mafalda by the drawings of Quino.

Anotther Topic that could be spotted by the design is Clothing, and inside them the followings: Children Clothing, Shoes, Dresses, Hair Ribbons.

Finally, in a more symbolic way: The selection of this particular strip of two panels from the vast production of Quino drawings of Mafalda, gives a clear message of what this release want to tell. At least in my opinion, this issue put the focus in the Union of the People of the Earth, in that We consider ourselves simply as Human Beings, that We leave all Frontiers behinds and Unite in one only Humankind. That is what will change these Ill World that worries Mafalda at first, in the Healthy one in which is proud then.

Stamp 1:

The Stamp 1: It is a great stamp to add a bit of Humor, in Collections about Health or Ecology, and also in more precise ones as Diseases or Fever, because of how Quino gracefully refers to them with the Hand of Mafalda in a Gesture of Measuring Earth Fever, and also by the Thermometer that is attached with Bandages to the Earth Globe. That object addition also makes this Stamp and the Release also useful in Measuring Systems Collections.

Also Medicine and Pharmaceutical Products Topic is included in this Stamp because of the little Flask with a White Label having a Black Cross over a Red Circle that although the colours selected are quite weird, it is clear that there is some Medicine in it.

Then, in an Emotions Collection this stamp in particular could help for Sadness, and Worry.

Finally, the Chair in which Mafalda is sitting, could be useful for a Furniture Collection.

Stamp 2:

The Stamp 2: is a bit more difficult to interpret than the first one that is pretty clear. I concluded that the Earth Globe now depicts a Crowd of people in a Manifestation, raisng Banners and Signs, and based in that interpretation is that I write this article on this Release. So Manifestations, People Fighting for his Rights, Union, Equality because of the Frontier Fading, could be some of the Topics that raise in particular from this Stamp.

Then, in an Emotions Collection this stamp in particular could help for Happiness, Satisfaction and Pride.

Block:

The block: Clearly reinforce the Childhood Topic, as it shows the other Children Characters of the Comic Strip. The friends of Mafalda: Felipe, Manolito, Susanita, Miguelito and Libertad, and his Baby brother Guille. With the last one Babies Topic is included, and also perhaps Pacifier, as Guille has one in his mouth.

FDC:

The desing of the First Day Cancelation: Only Reinforces the 50th Anniversary Topic, as it shows a huge 50 number with Mafalda between it Digits. The same Logotype that is shown in both stamps and in the Block.

If you consider that there are another topics in this stamp, that were not spot in this review, you are encouraged to telling me about them, so please do not hesitate to post a comment. I would appreciate your help very much.

Topics:

Issue:

As Main Topic: As it was with the Stamp issued with the same motif, I think Football or Soccer Topic will be the selected one, and this one in a wider Sports Topic. Then, going on the opposite direction, to more precise Topics: Uruguayan Football, Football Teams, Uruguayan Football Teams, even Centenarians Football Teams, and of course the team honoured itself "Institución Atlética Sud América" or "Sud América" too.

Then, surrounding the main topic, could be found the followings: First, the Centenary Topic, and then, going deeper, as the origins of the Club has his roots in the Jewish Neighbourhood, Jews could be a Topic related to this release. Then, the Club also has the particularity to be nicknamed "Buzones", that means Mailbox, so Mailbox itself and Post are Topics included in this Issue too.

Now, regarding the desing of the Special Cancelation: Besides reinforcing all the previously mentioned topics, it also add the Clothing Topic, or the more precise ones, Sportwears or T-Shirts, as the cancellation shows the sketch of a Football T-Shirt, that outline the text that commemorates the Centenary of Sud América Football Team.

Finally, in a more symbolic way: As well as in the Stamp of this motif, I said that the more symbolic Topics were by the side of The History of Uruguay, specially the Small Stories, the Anecdotes, the Simple Things, that step by step mades the History of any Nation, for the cancellation I think, by selecting the T-Shirt in the design, instead of the Neighbourhood and the Mailbox shown in the Stamp, the focus was shifted to Football itself rather than History.

Stamps selection:

The stamps selected were: Naturally, the Stamp issued with the same motif was the first option, and one of the stamps selected, the other one was one Released on February 2nd of 2007 that commemorates the First Infantile Football World Cup, celebrated in Uruguay that year, and named "José Nazzasi", honouring this great Uruguayan Football Player.

The reason for selecting these stamps was: for the first one, trivial, because It match exactly with the Cancellation Topic, then the selection of the second one, although clearly influenced by Football Topic, none of the previous stamps were related with Sud América Team, so the stamp selected was one of many that could have worked well too.

The selection of this stamp in particular was due to it has the virtue of been rather Neutral insided the Football Topic, as although there were issued recently stamps about the Centenary of another Football Teams, I think that it would not be fair with the Football Team honoured in the Cancellation, using a stamp about another Club, so I prefered a Neutral one.

The other merit of the stamp selected, was his connection with the Past or History of Uruguayan Football, through the Personality of José Nazzasi.

The selection of this stamps, add the following topics: As already mentioned, both, the Cancellation and the first stamp selected, were released commemorating the same, so this stamps only reinforces the Topics that already exist in the Cancelation.

However, the second one, besides reinforcing Football or Soccer Topic, and this in a wider Sports, also includes some other more precise Topics inside Football, like Infantile Football, and more precise Infantile Football World Cups, and that in particular Infantile Football World Cup Uruguay 2007, probably all of them difficult to find in stamps, then there is another branch of Topics like Football Players or Uruguayan Football Players, and also the Personality of Jose Nazzasi too.

Then, following the path of José Nazzasi, several topics emerge. First Olympic Games, and Football World Cups, as he won both Olympic Game Paris 1924 and Olympic Game Amsterdam 1928, and also the World Cup Uruguay 1930, then other topics appears by the Football Teams in which he played, that were all Uruguayan Football TeamsCentro Atlético Lito, a team that now did not exist, and the still existing Club Atlético Bella Vista, and Club Nacional de Football.

Another Topic that could be seen in this second stamp is the Flags one, with the Flag of Uruguay in his design, and with the Flag of Uruguay, as already mentioned in previous issues, includes the presence of the Sun, more in particular the Sun of May that refers to the May Revolution, a week-long series of events that took place from May 18 to 25, 1810, in Buenos Aires, capital of the Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata. This Spanish colony included roughly the territories of present-day Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay. The result was the removal of Viceroy Baltasar Hidalgo de Cisneros and the establishment of a local government, the Primera Junta (First Junta), on May 25. It is also claimed that the Sun of May is a representation of the Inca Sun god Inti, and also another view is that is influenced by the emblem of the French Revolution, and that emblem was taken from the Freemasonic representations of the All-seeing eye.

Finally, some minor topics, like Balls, a new one in the Logotype, and an old one holded by José Nazzasi, are shown, and also the Tie and Suit Topics, that reinforces the wider Clothing Topic already present in the Cancellation, because of the strange way in which the kid is dressed.

If you consider that there are another topics in this stamp, that were not spot in this review, you are encouraged to telling me about them, so please do not hesitate to post a comment. I would appreciate your help very much.

Issue:

As Main Topic: The Personality of José Gervasio Artigas is clearly the main topic of the stamp, as it will be of the whole stamps of this permanent serie that will commemorate the 250th Anniversary of his Birth. The personality of José Artigas could be included in wider ones as Uruguayan Personalities, Uruguayan Militars, and of course in one dedicated to National Heroes.

Then, surrounding the main topic, could be found the followings: The first that cames to our mind is History, in particular the History of Southamerica, focus on the Emancipation of Southamerica, or the Liberty of Southamerica, or the Spanish American wars of independence, as José Gervasio Artigas was one of the most notorious figures of that Emancipation. Also the Ideologies associated with him, as Federalism and Liberalism, even a last one centred on his figure called Artiguism, are clearly represented in this stamp. Finally, by his great labour in the Uruguayan Army, Militaria is another topic directly associated with this issue.

Now, regarding the desing of the stamp: It is clear that two topics emerges. The more clear one is the Portrait type of Painting Art, as all the stamps from the Permanent Serie will have the portrait with a Close-up of the Face of José Gervasio Artigas performed by the Artist Miguel Angel Tuala, based in the work "Artigas en la Ciudadela", an Oil Painting of one of the most worldwide known Uruguayan Painters as it is Juan Manual Blanes, accompanied by a quotation from him, so Quotations could be another topic too.

The difference between the stamps of this permanent serie will be, besides the facial value, the colour in which the portrait of Artigas and Quotation is presented, and also the quotation will differ from stamp to stamp. In this case the facial value is 1 UYP, the colour is Blue, and the Quotation is "Sean los orientales tan ilustrados como valientes", that could be translated in english to: "Be the Eastern (Uruguayan People) as learned as brave".

This quotation cames from the Inauguration of the National Library on May 26th of 1816, when Jose Gervasio Artigas, sensitive to the impact of this event in the creation of Uruguayan Nation, ordered that the Watchword of the Uruguayan Army was "Sean los orientales tan ilustrados como valientes".

Finally, in a more symbolic way: The selection of this particular one of the Artigas Quotations, clearly add a link to Culture, Education, Information, of course also Books, Literature, Libraries, and in particular The Uruguayan National Library.

Finally, it is very interesting how José Gervasio Artigas, at that time Leader of the Uruguayan Army, and in a way also Leader of all Uruguayans because of the turbuluent times in which this quotation was coined, could see The importance of have a Cultured People, not only a brave one. He believed in a Nation with people brave to fight, and also an even more important, Aware of why, for, and against whom, to Fight. He did not want a people of followers. He wanted a nation of fully conscious individuals.

Block:

The block: It neither add any other topic, nor reinforce existing ones, as it only shows the inks used in printing the block, and it not use any icon for this.

FDC:

The desing of the First Day Cancelation: Adds the topic Maps, and more in particular Uruguayan Maps, because the First Day Cancelation shows the Map of Uruguay and the Date of Issue of the Release inside it, as it is happening with all the permanent series since 2012.

If you consider that there are another topics in this stamp, that were not spot in this review, you are encouraged to telling me about them, so please do not hesitate to post a comment. I would appreciate your help very much.
